Problem:
Following the arrest of Pavel Durov in France and the ban of the social media platform X in Brazil, AFL launched an investigation seeking communications or records from the Department of State, Department of Commerce, and the U.S. Agency for International Development to identify whether the Biden-Harris Administration was involved in the arrest of Pavel Durov and in the social media ban of X in Brazil, potentially shedding light on the administration’s global censorship efforts. The Department of State, Commerce, and the U.S. Agency for International Development refused to comply with AFL’s requests for records, so AFL sued.
Action:
AFL sued the Department of State, the Department of Commerce, and the U.S. Agency for International Development for failing to produce the records requested.
